Nestled in the IY township, our safe and secure site gives you the prime opportunity to have a “give back” day.

Teams and groups of people use iKhaya Le Themba for team building or giving back days. Our unique location and site can offer your team an incredible, life changing experience, with the effects felt all the way back to the office.

Activites include:

• painting our classrooms

• workshops with our children

• staff discussions and brainstorming sessions with our team

Volunteers are CRUCIAL to the daily operations of ikhaya, and we have volunteers from across the globe join us for 1 day, 1 week or months at a time. All are needed and welcome!

​Volunteers help us with:

• Homework lab, stationed in our library, children with homework from school will approach you for any help or assistance.

• Child’s play! Games, fun & sports - new ideas encouraged!

• Reading corner. Reading aloud is so important to the development of little minds.

• Sharing your experiences. How rich could our little world be if we learnt things from one another? Be the change and bring your knowledge and experience to our children.

iKhaya Le Themba believes in recycling for good. What you think may be “past it”, could bring life to someone else! We’d love you to remember us with your:

• Used clothing, especially school uniform items, shoes, socks.

• Winter weather items. Being on the side of a mountain has its downsides!

• Learning materials, books, workbooks, stationary.

• Toys, puzzles, games - anything a child loves.

• Sports and exercise equipment. Sport brings us together.

You are so welcome to visit us and drop off your donations, parking is secure!

Alternatively, you can purchase goods on platforms such as Takealot and get them delivered! We are in desperate need of educational games and board games!

A visit to ikhaya Le Themba not only promotes the hopes and dreams of our children, but fuels your own.

Come and see the incredible work happening and hang out with us for a few hours, a day or a few hours! You can watch from the side, you can get stuck in and help or just simply have a tour.

Either way, make sure you make some time to see the work going into South African Townships.
