Meet Team iKhaya
Our Facilitators
Sanele Krishe is iKhaya's Project Manager, Grade 4 teacher, and a qualified Life Coach. We are incredibly proud to have such a gifted and fearless leader who is passionate about his community and iKhaya. We appreciate his openness, immense kindness and the excellent role-model he is to all of us.
Miss Ellen is our Grade 1 Facilitator with years of experience working with children. She is an inspiration to us all, and we deeply appreciate her wisdom and unending kindness. What a privilege it is to have her as a part of the Ikhaya team.
Ms Ntosh Vara is our Grade 2 Facilitator. Her classroom is a happy haven of support, warmth and colour - the perfect space for learning. Ms Ntosh is multitalented and has taught iKhaya's kids ballroom dancing, modelling and drum majorettes for many years.
Nomvula Nyangeni is iKhaya's wonderful Community Worker and the Grade 3 teacher. She is the link between iKhaya and its families. Nomvula focuses on building relationships, home visits and creating support structures when needed. In the afternoons, she creates a safe and supportive environment for our Grade 3 class.
Loyiso Skoti is iKhaya’s wonderful Grade 5, 6 & 7 Facilitator. He is a creative and critical thinker with a passion for leadership and the performing arts, all of which he imparts to his students. He also makes sure that our children receive the holistic care and support they need by creating a safe environment where they feel safe, nurtured and loved.
Nicolette Lotter is the Volunteer Coordinator, Homework Lab Facilitator and Social Media Manager at iKhaya. She meets and works with volunteers of all ages and from all over the world, supporting them as they give their time and hearts to build into the future of our iKhaya children.
Lunathi, or “Lulu,” is a former professional footballer and iKhaya’s Soccer Coach. He visits iKhaya le Themba twice weekly to coach our girls’ and boys’ football teams. He also runs fitness and exercise sessions with the kids, focusing on their physical development, teamwork skills, and self-discipline.
Our Operational Team
Nomahlubi Funcuza is iKhaya’s Head Chef and our longest-serving staff member. She is the heart and soul of our kitchen, and a guiding light to so many. She is also a mentor, a coach, and a mother figure to our older girls..
Nokulunga Simitani is our Housekeeper. She makes sure the iKhaya buildings are sparkling clean and also assists Noma in the kitchen with the preparation of nutritious meals every single day. She is a sister, mother and friend to the iKhaya children and team.
Tatamkhulu (“Grandfather”), as Tata Welcome is affectionately called by the children, keeps an ever-watchful eye on iKhaya le Themba, monitoring and greeting all who enter the property. He is a wonderful role model to all of us with his kind and gracious demeanour.
Phila Nogwavu is iKhaya’s Caretaker. He lives on the property, taking excellent care of iKhaya’s buildings, land and people with kindness and grace. He and Nomvula run our vegetable garden project with some of our parents. He also supports Thembi with fetching our iKhaya kids from school.
Thembi Wana is our amazing School Bus Driver and Security Officer. He is a father figure to our children, a supportive brother, colleague, husband and uncle. He is one of our longest-serving staff members, and is a man of peace, kindness and generosity.
