April Edition of Good News Monthly

Smiles, fun & hope for the future

We are excited for the month of May, and grateful for all that happened in April!

Your support has meant that:

  1. 1/3rd of our iKhaya children that attend the local Disa school made it onto the top achiever’s charts for term 1 in 2023. Only 90 children make the chart in the school and 17% of those were iKhaya children. Amazing considering we can only cater for 0.15% of children in Imizamo Yethu!

  2. We have opened our new library for the children of iKhaya to test out before we fully launch it. So far the verdict is… they LOVE IT! We also had a visit from an Occupational Therapist from the UK who advised us how our library and therapy room can be renovated further to best suit children with learning and trauma related difficulties on a daily basis.

  3. Our grade 5 & 6’s have their weekend sleepover coming up. This could be these children’s one and only time to experience time away from home. Can you help us make it a once-in-a-lifetime FUN experience? We need to raise R8,000. Please donate R100 for some sleepover treats here.

  4. Our teachers went on a training course on how to cater to children who fall behind in their studies. We know that even though we can have small numbers in our classrooms (up to 30 children), our children can range in their learning styles and abilities greatly. Down to your generosity, we could pay for 4 teachers to learn how to adapt to children that learn slower than others.

If you’d like to be a part of any of the above, or anything else happening at iKhaya, please feel free to reply or come visit!!

Thank you,

Sara & the incredible iKhaya Team
