Local is Lekker!

We had so many highlights in July, but here are four of our children’s favourites!

  • Legacy teamed up with Brandesign to paint our grades 3, 4, 5 & 6 classrooms a whole new bright shade of yellow. Their combined efforts transformed our classrooms from cluttered, grubby walls to inspirational happiness! Our children now enter warm rooms painted with the kindness of locals. Thank you team!

  • Tigers Milk Camps Bay rang to ask what our children’s favourite food was. I had already asked the children this as part of our child sponsorship programme and knew the answer was BURGERS! Not only did they cook 120 burgers, but also delivered them with hot chips in beautiful take away boxes. The eyes on the iKhaya children were wide when they got to open the boxes… but the burgers were larger than their faces! What a treat. Thank you Tigers Milk Camps Bay!

  • Christian Life Camps Bay spent the summer of 2022/23 saving up as a congregation for blankets for our children. Winters can be harsh, especially if you live in a shack. So each one of our children recieved a soft, cosy, warm and strong blanket to warm up in at home. Each child was blessed as the blanket was wrapped around their bodies. Thank you wonderful people of Camps Bay!

  • Bishops Prep school celebrated Mandela Day and our director Sara spoke at their assembly about what South Africa can do to help children in need. They responded by donating 118 metres worth of canned food! We now have a fully stocked room of food to be able to give to families in need, and each child got to take home some too! Thank you the families of the Bishop prep boys!
